Nigeria Guidelines on GM Stacked Events

Abraham Isah - August 22, 2022 - 0 comments

Nigeria’s Biotechnology and Biosafety Stakeholders validated and adopted National guidelines on the regulation of Genetically Modified plants with stacked events at the end of July 2022. The objective of these guidelines is to provide guidance and information on the risk assessment and risk management requirements and procedures for plants with genetically modified stacked events through traditional breeding or molecular techniques. An African Union press release quoted Mr. Samuel Timpo, on behalf of the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), commending Nigeria and the NBMA for “developing regulatory tools that align with international standards and best practices.”
