Crop biotechnology is the epicenter of the Fourth Revolution of Food production (4RFp) that will meet up with the demand of the continuous increasing Nigeria’s population that have been estimated to reach 402 million by 2050. Despite the numerous benefits of the genetic modification technology in plants, continuous debate and public fear, which is unnecessary, is causing setback to the human race in achieving food security, thereby causing severe hunger in countries around the world, with developing nations including Nigeria seriously affected. The need for effective science communication that will debunk public myths about agricultural biotechnology and its tools has moved from being urgent to emergency as many poor countries whom agricultural biotechnology is supposed to benefit the most, are being deprived due to false information and myths. Several scientific findings have highlighted science communication as one of the several key variables that is required for the creation of an enabling environment for agricultural biotechnology. Continuous efforts are needed to make sure that every member of the general public have an accurate understanding of the application of agricultural biotechnology. This, though may not be an easy task, continuous science communication by experts and trained professionals will go a long a way in demystifying the myths about agricultural biotechnology.
